Our Itinerary, Tips and Adventure
Some trips take months to plan and, once you finally get there, exceed all your expectations. Our road trip through Switzerland was definitely one of them.
Before leaving, I had created a very detailed road book. Every stop had been carefully planned: the most beautiful hikes, must-see viewpoints, villages to discover and all the places we dreamed of visiting. I love organizing our trips in advance so we can make the most of every day.
But there was one exception to all this planning: we hadn't booked a single campsite.
That was a deliberate choice. We wanted to keep the freedom to adapt our itinerary if the weather changed, if we liked a place more than expected, or simply if we felt like staying somewhere a little longer. That's also what makes a road trip in a van so special: being able to change your plans without constraints.
This flexibility allowed us to experience the journey differently. Some mornings, we decided to leave earlier to make the most of a hike. On other evenings, we took our time enjoying the scenery before looking for somewhere to spend the night.
Every day had its own rhythm.

Lake Oeschinen, Our Favorite Discovery
Of all the stops on our itinerary, Lake Oeschinen was without a doubt our biggest highlight.
Even after seeing countless photos, nothing can truly prepare you for how beautiful this place is. When we reached the lake, we simply stood there in silence for a few moments. The turquoise water, the surrounding mountains and the peaceful atmosphere make the scenery feel almost unreal.
Before setting off, we had taken the time to check the weather forecast. In the mountains, conditions can change quickly, so it's always best to be well informed before heading out on a hike.
Once there, I took out my camera and drone to capture the incredible scenery. I also love sharing these moments with my community, so I posted a few Stories about our itinerary, allowing our friends, family and followers to experience the adventure with us.

The Unexpected Moments That Make the Best Trips
Even with a carefully prepared road book, there will always be unexpected moments.
Finding a campsite at the end of the day, checking whether a parking area is accessible, looking for a restaurant after a long hike or changing the itinerary depending on the weather... All these small decisions are part of the rhythm of a road trip.
Since we hadn't booked any accommodation in advance, every evening we searched for a campsite based on our current location. Being able to quickly check availability, read reviews or launch the GPS to our next destination allowed us to maintain exactly the kind of spontaneity we were looking for.
This is precisely when our eSIMware eSIM proved invaluable. As soon as we arrived in Switzerland, we were connected, without having to change SIM cards or rely on Wi-Fi. We could adjust our plans within minutes and continue our journey with complete peace of mind.

Connectivity That Travels With You
As a travel content creator, staying connected is also part of my everyday life. I love sharing our discoveries as the adventure unfolds, answering questions from my community and showing the behind-the-scenes moments of our trips.
But beyond social media, having a reliable connection mainly gave us peace of mind. It allowed us to use GPS, check useful information before a hike, find a campsite at the last minute or simply continue our journey without worrying about connectivity.
Ultimately, it's not necessarily something you think about before leaving, but once you're there, you quickly realize just how much easier it makes travelling.

What We'll Remember From This Adventure
Our road trip through Switzerland gave us incredible landscapes, unforgettable family memories and the sense of freedom we were looking for when we decided to travel by van.
Planning our itinerary while leaving room for the unexpected turned out to be the perfect balance. And if there's one piece of advice I'd give anyone preparing a similar trip, it would be to think about connectivity before leaving too.
It's a small detail that makes everyday travel so much easier and allows you to fully enjoy every stop along the way without worrying about logistics.
